Rated 4 out of 5 by Sandy89 from Not what I expected I bought this assuming it was the paper version of the hard back but was a little disappointed to find it seems to be a shortened version. From talking to other people it doesn't seem to have the catalogue of patterns like the larger hardback book with the same title, I assumed it would be the same. It's OK for a light read but I wish I had paid the extra for the hard back version as I wanted it more for pattern/back stamp reference and pictures. Being a condensed version a lot of the pictures included are also scaled right down and some are black and white.

Rated 3 out of 5 by Snozb from Not quite as I expected I bought two of these, one for myself and one for a friend. I returned them at my own expense for a refund as I expected far more pictures of patterns than there actually was. maybe I misread the description on the website but the books name kind of lead me to imagine pages of pictures. I guess if you are after history of patterns to read, this is your book...hence the positive recommendation.

Rated 4 out of 5 by oldpotatohead from A different version to the hardback This is an interesting read but I bought it for the pattern and dates index which, it turns out, is only in the hardback edition. Customer Services were very helpful, as always, and sent me a returns label and refund straight away.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Fairy Nuff from insightful and entertaining A great companion book to 'toast and marmalade' and shows just how much hard work Emma and Matthew have put into all their designs.
